About Me:
I’m a touring musician who has been involved in inner and outer world change since the early 80’s. Music and healing work have been my ways of touching people. I play electric cello and sing. I have worked as a nurse at different points in my life too and that has led me to be more conscious of music as a healing force.
I have three of my own cds out and have appeared on hundreds of other peoples work. I have composed for dance, theatre and film. Without wanting to bore you with all the bio details, you can visit my website www.jamisieber.com to get the general outline of my work.
Back in 2001 I was invited to Thailand to play music for and with elephants in the Thai Elephant Orchestra. I know it sounds crazy, but it was one of the deepest mystical collaborations I have ever experienced. I fell completely in love with them and when I returned to the USA, I knew I had to go back and dedicate a cd of music to them and help raise money for their care.
Since that experience it has been a passion of mine to engage audiences in entering this “other world” where there is no difference between human and animal, between human and nature, between themselves and another human. I know that the “we are all one” concept is spreading these days, but there is something that happens on a deep when there is music, images, film, and story that helps engage the heart and disengage the mind.
Along with touring my own music, I also am involved in a collaboration with Kim Rosen, poet. (www.kimrosen.net). We have been doing concerts for 4 years now and also workshops on the Big Island of Hawaii. We call the workshop “Beyond Words: Poetry and Music as Passion, Prayer and Practice.” It is a magical experience to be immersed in the words of great poets throughout history, our own musings, the music of the electric cello, and the sounds of our voices, waves, wind, birds, and bamboo chimes. In my own humble opinion it is nourishment for our hectic lives and it is a path back to our own hearts and true nature. We are currently working on a new recording that is due out in the late spring.
I am happy to be here on Zaadz. I find that these days I dance between hope and despair. When someone told me about this website I had to see what it was all about. What can be bad about sharing our visions for a better world and helping to inspire one another????
I wish you the best. Hope to see you at a show someday.
peace and love, Jami
